Friends for a Lifetime

We know having a friend means trust, listening, lending a shoulder to cry on, love, gratitude, and support, but what about patience?   What better support to have than a friend who has patience when you go shopping and they don't spend a thing.  I selected two Bugaboo digitals and added them to this side card.  From my stash, I adhered pattern paper and fiber to each step.  I took the strips from DCWV teen mat stack since it had cute little writing to bring attention to the shopping theme.  I usually add the Priceless stamp to the back of my cards, but I thought it was perfect for the friendship theme.

All mixed up

It’s been a busy week.  I’ve been working on decorations for my brothers’ baby shower.  I promise to post them Sunday or Monday.   Can you believe I woke up at 6:00am this morning and went straight to the scrapbook table?   In five hours I completed one layout and four cards!  I got my fix…Thank you Jesus!!   I admit I have an addiction.  I just don’t want any help.  Is that normal?  Keep me in your prayers.   My last card was this sweet little angel.

I initially created this little angel for Verve’s stamp challenge.  There is a dare to create a card with a shabby chic look using at least one Verve product; however it is a Word Art Wednesday sentiment.  It was perfect for the image.   I thought maybe I should stop and create another one.  I love Teresa Kline’s creations.  She distresses her paper and put together patterns so well.   Also I was having so much fun with Twist of Faith challenge using Borders and Fancy Edges and added the fence border.  I thought maybe I should stop, get busy with my ‘To Do’ list and continue later.   I did just that.  Check out the double take on the image.  Hope I did justice on the dare……

With heartfelt thanks

This card was made for my mother’s optometrist.  She had eye surgery last Monday.  At age 74, she is blessed to be in good health.  It was her third time in life going to the hospital since me and my brother was brought into the world.  I wanted to thank him for an A+WESOME job.  So glad he knows the Lord.  I just had to ask.   St. Francis Hospital has a great medical staff.  I appreciated their patience and follow through.  She was away from me for three hours.  They told me I could watch the television in her room but I needed some quality time with the Lord.  I believe Isaiah said in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength and I found strength in the WORD.  After 24 hours, Mama Minnie’s eyesight was better than ever.

Stick Together

Yes we divas have to stick together!  I have a few faithful friends that I connect with on a weekly and sometimes daily basis.  Although in our 50’s, single, married, and with grandchildren we still manage to take time and check on each other as well as get together on a monthly basis.  Quality time is much better than buying gifts and things that we don’t need anyway.  Our friend who relocated to Cincinnati, OH came to visit this week and we enjoyed a nice time out at Houston’s Restaurant.

Thanks So Very Much

I am elated about my cousins 30th birthday. She wanted it to be special and I'm sure you know what I suggested.......................If you thought SCRAPBOOK PARTY!!  woo woo  you're correct.  She loves purple so I went with DCWV The Painted Petals Stack.  This is the thank you card I made for her to thank her for her business out of the scraps from the scrapbook layout and accordian albums.

I'll add pictures from the party later this week.  Yes that's the plan for an action filled day at 5:00pm Saturday.  The Anticipation is driving me crazy!  Actually 20 RSVP, but 10 more joined in the fun SO yes I had to get another paper stack and make it happen.

I've been busy as a bee this week. I made 30 invitations for my brothers shower. He's going to be a great father to his son.  I love how they came out. Didn't realize how much work was put into them. I could have made them simple but Oh Me!

Oh I forgot about the head table decorations for our Summer Youth work program.  No money equals creativity and it can still be pretty.  These roses & petals were made out of tissue paper and the stick was from a plant in the front of the building.

I love it that SO many friends, family, and co-workers trust me to do their invitations, parties and cards. You know I have to thank GOD for the gift!  Wow it's been a busy week.  Thanks for stopping by.

The fans are in demand

For my Design Team post at Scraps of Color E:spire I altered a fan for my Auntie Granny. You'll see her later in the post.  Since then the fans have been in demand.   Call me frugal, but yes I recycle our church program hymns all the time.  Everything else for these fans came from my stash of goodies accept for the square doilies they are from my mother's stash! First I want to share the fan I made for my Aunt Cora.  She's a member of the mother's board at First Baptist Broad.

Recipe ingredients:
Robert Jackson digital
Bic Mark-its
Crystal Stickles
Our Daily Bread stamp
Spellbinder die Prima flowers
Hancock Fabrics lace
Webster's Pages Designers Trim
Anita's acrylic paint

When I was a senior in high school, a senior citizen told me to always keep a song in my heart and a psalm in my mind.   She's right it's nothing  like a song and a scripture to encourage yourself.   I included them both in the fans.

How about this hat! Aunt Cora wear hats from time to time, but nothing like this sister.

This is the fan that got it all started.

I used two different types of lace.  My aunt use to sew, but at 91 years young she says her eyes are not as strong as they use to be.
Now my Auntie Granny can wear a hat.  She says you put on your best before the Lord inside and out.  Enter into his courts with Thanksgiving and Praise!

Here's my Auntie Granny, Elizabeth Jones Wilson.  She's my mother's oldest sister.  My mother is the baby.  She cooks, bake, can preserves, and visits the nursing home.   We just don't let her drive.  Auntie Granny is  full of wisdom.  Don't tell her what you can't do.  You'll leave her inspired with a plan!  I took her to a visiting church Temple of Deliverance Church of God in Christ, to hear Bishop Milton Walter Hawkins preach. He preached on Favor!

I know it was a long post.  Thank you for hanging out with me.  Be blessed...

It's a Celebration

This adorable image by Saturated Canary has kisses for my "one year" Breast Cancer Survivor!  Thank God for all  Breast Cancer Support groups who continue to offer resources and assistance.    No one should walk alone while going through this disease.   I have volunteered with the Sharin and Carin committee over the years conducting scrapbook workshops and it means so much to me to see them cherishing their memories.  It gives them a sense of hope that life goes on and their story must be told.  The most touching moment is to attend a celebration where they call their names and give the years they have been in remission. Woooooooooooooo God is good....I Celebrate Life!

Shop til you drop

Loving this spotlight technique challenge they're having over at Tuesday Throwdown.  My sisters of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. are traveling to Washington, DC this weekend for our 100 year celebration. They will be buying more than paraphernalia.  Macy's will open specific hours just for the sorority as they did at our National Convention in Philadelphia, PA. My mind reflected back to this image by Robert Jackson. I remember when....We shopped til' we dropped.

Oh the Sunset

I did a bit of experimenting with this card.  Over at Twist of Faith cards the twist is End of the Day - Sunset Colors.  My selection was yellow, orange, and brownish gray so I inked it all up first.  That's my visual view of the sunset. The yellow represents the sun that shines so bright. The mixture of yellow and red is orange, which let's me know it's cooling down.  As the sun is about to set it turns brownish gray to create a relaxed atmosphere.   We can clearly see the moon and the stars up above, which let's us know God is always keeping a watchful eye.  He is the light at sunrise and at sunset.

Sewing Room

Hello,
Actually I'm in my scrapbook room sharing a card I made for Crafts4eternity R#131.  Their theme this week is Sewing Room and I had everything accept my sewing machine. (It's still in the box lol)  I was inspired when I saw Evie's take on the challenge.  I love working with dress forms and it's been a while so this is my creation using a MOJO301 sketch.  The scripture is from Psalm 139:14 --  "I will praise thee:  for I am fearfully and wonderfully made:  marvelous are they works; and that my soul knoweth right well."

Beautiful

This card was inspired by challenge #44 from Twist of Faith to make your own background and add an inspirational message.  I pulled out my stamps that I purchased five months ago.  Why do I hoard my tools?  I enjoyed The Secret Garden collection by Stampin Up.  It comes with the stamps and framelit die cuts!  Kind of like how it came out and the first word that came out of my mouth was beautiful.  Then I pulled out one of Our Daily Bread stamps, which I thought was  perfect for the card.
Recipe Ingredients:

Dew Drop ink pads

Stickle - crystal
Recollection bling

I added a pop dot behind a few for a 3D effect

Thank you for stopping by! I think I'm going to go back and play with this set a little more!  Also entering in Word Art Wednesday.Challenge 87 Anything Goes and 365 Cards Day 187 Stamp It All

Blessed and Highly Favored

We have to conduct an in-service training for our summer students and they have a teambuilding activity using a deck of cards.  My boss got the deck of cards donated by Horseshoe casino which came in a box. It was the cutest shaped box perfect to hold something at a desk. I woke up Friday morning at 4:00am and couldn't sleep.  Usually when I can't sleep I go straight to my scraproom and 2 1/2 hours later I created my vision using my bosses favorite colors chocolate and teal.

I think my best work is early in the morning. Forgive me for the blury photos.  I rushed to take photos before I took it to work.  Thank goodness I wasn't late.  She smiled and said, "What for?"  I said, "Just because".  Then I showed her the photo of the original box.  She said, "What? No way."  I left her smiling.  Sometimes blessings should be shared 'Just Because'.  Entering this project in Path of Positivity - Caring  and Word Art Wednesday Challenge #87 Anything Goes

Take Some Time

Women take on many tasks often for others and seldom for themselves.   We need to take some time.  Ecclesiastes 3:1 reads,  “To everything there is a season and a time to every purpose under the heavens. “   Today I spent time with family, had some quiet time for reflection and off for time to craft!  I turned on  95.7 Hallelujah FM and it’s been a breeze praising God in song and letting it inspire me to create!  My mother often tells me to, “Stop, sit down, be still and let God talk to you.”  Now I see why her favorite verse is Proverbs 3:6,   “In all thy ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy paths. “  Take some time....

Strength and Hope

I am a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.  Memphis Alumnae Chapter.  It’s a wonderful sisterhood found on Christian principles.  As the chair of our Courtesy committee, I send out cards to those who are sick, shut in, grieving, etc.   One of my sorority sisters called to thank me for her card.  She read the scripture to me and shared what she was experiencing and how it blessed her.  That was truly a blessing to me, because not only do I want to make them smile, I want to give them hope and courage in their circumstances.  This cute image by Robert Jackson digital shows friendship, support, and caring.  So if by chance you haven’t received your hug for the day it’s for you too AND if you have received your hug here’s another one.
