A FANTASTIC FUN FRIDAY AT SOC!

It was a Fantastic Fun Friday at SOC January 21st.  Viv had some fun challenges.  If I could only meet the 30 minute timeframe. Lol   I was excited about the The Friday Nite Chat Challenge image.  I thought about the fushia & black DCWV pp and ran with it!  I used some pop dots to make her stand out.  Isn't she 'Working it'!
The 1st challenge was a tri-fold card.  This was my second time making one.  It’s a great way to use your scraps & embellies.  The embossed embellies are by We R Memory Keepers.

The 2nd challenge was an ATC card with the title ‘My Style is…’.  Mine is conservative with a twist of excitement.  I used a Hanna Stamp and took off the pony tail, because of my new short & sassy hair cut.  I LOVE green & herbal teas and music!

The 3rd challenge was to make a two page layout using 6-8 photos.  The title had to be 'Joyful Memories'.  I love the Arts and I’ve been wanting to crop my photos from the CDFMemphis.org.  Perfect timing.  I found one of my tickets and added some die cuts.

Thanks for stopping by.  Be sure to leave a comment!

Dr. Martin Luther King holiday

My job was closed in observance of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. holiday!!!  I volunteered at the National Civil Rights Museum celebrating the 20th Anniversary. USA today named the NCRM one of the top 10 treasures.  It’s definitely a site to see.  If you are ever in Memphis, TN you must stop by just give yourself about 2-3 hours.    It’s truly amazing and educational from when you step in the building to the end of the tour.  For more details visit http://www.civilrightsmuseum.org/home.htm.
Passing out t-shirts

Debra and I are checking out

We kept the crowd enlightened in the Chicago era before they got to Kings room.

Jeanette is great at coordinating the volunteers.

Snowing in Memphis

Memphis got a few snow flurries Christmas weekend, but 1/10/11 we got 3-5 inches.  As you see below I got 3.5 inches at my home. I only went out to take pictures because it was cold.

3.5 inches!

My street is always busy, but it looks as though everyone stayed home.

My manager sent a message the office was closed and SCRAPBOOKING took me awayyyyyyyyyyyyyy!  I created one layout and card, chatted with my friends at Scraps Of Color, and spread some love in the gallery at Scrapbook.com.  'Shear delight' below was so much fun creating.  Actually all the snapshots were taken by me accept for the back of my head.  I was snapping away. My stylist was cracking up laughing at how perfect they were...and not to mention how excited I was.  I wish I had taken a before and after shots ...Well maybe not...lol.  Journaling reads:  The things I love about my stylist...Always on time, Has a sweet personality, Takes time with my hair, Good sleep under the dryer (I sleep while she's styling too-she's got patience!), No drama at her shop, Her shop is down the street from Michael's & Joann's!  (She trys to talk me out of going. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.)

Products used:  DCWV Mariposa pp, Sizzix scissors, Martha Stewart lace punch (top), EK Success edge punch (bottom)

Also at SOC, this card was designed for our 1st Weekend Challenge in January.  The challenge is to use red/black/white, add a heart and have fun with it!  Products used:  Cuttlebug embossing folder, Martha Stewart dove punch ($5.00 bargain @ Michael's I couldn't pass up), and CM heart punches.

Scrapbook Workshops

As I move on to 2011, I had to share my love of giving time during the holiday season.  Tis the Season to make memories and I LOVE to teach classes!  Our Delta Academy made Christmas cards for the nursing home patients...

and to their surprise they had the opportunity to make their own toilet roll mini albums from the goodies in their packets.  They learned when you give it comes back double!  Didn't they do a great job?  They made me proud.

This is a picture of a few of the paperbag albums our staff created for ‘Memory Making for the holidays’.  It was a teambuilding activity. I used DCWV paperpacks to make them personal based on their favorite colors.  Displayed below are just a few of the albums that were made.  They were a fun bunch to work with and so proud of their final product!
It's time for me to do a little scrapbooking and card making.  I am totally behind.  TFL!

Happy New Year!!!

Happy New Year!!!
So excited about what 2011 has for me!  GOD IS GOOD.  My computer has been down since the 1st week of December.  It's been hard to cope. I felt isolated from everything, but thanks be to GOD for connecting me with so many wonderful friends.  Now I would like to wish joy, peace, happiness, good health, prosperity, healing, miracles & blessings to all my friends and their families.
