The Wiz featuring 'The Wiz'

This is our last character of The Wiz at Scraps of Color.  Hope you have enjoyed viewing them as much as I have enjoyed making them come alive.  Thanks again to our host MJ and Alice.  Robert Jackson is a gifted artist. I used black paper and dapped a silver ink pad on the chicken wire to make the background. and used a couple of hardware pieces.

The challenge was to use red, bling and the word hope on our project.

The Wiz featuring Evillene "The Wicked Witch"

Evillene really puts the "Ug in Ugly".  I can remember that line so cleary, which helped me to put her character in place.  As you know, over at Scraps of Color we are having fun with The Wiz characters and this is the 5th digital image by Robert Jackson.  He captured all the details.  Yes I got a clip for you if you want to see her coming out singing her song, "Don't Nobody Bring Me No Bad News" here.  Her dress was full of bling.  My creations are all tags.  I tried to incorporate the sweat shop theme in my tag with the sewing machine, strips of material on the end, a whip, and her word 'WORK' with scrabble letters. Don't get scared, let me know what you think.
Recipe:
Stampin up fabric

The Wiz featuring Dorothy & Toto & Winner of SOC blog hop

Can't you feel a brand new day? Can't you feel a brand new day?  I LOVE the music in The Wiz. You can hear the song and see the video here sung by Diana Ross & Michael Jackson.  Quincy Jones did a phenomenal job!!  This is Scraps of Color fourth digital  image of The Wiz relay challenge created by Robert Jackson.  We were to incorporate the following in our project:  glitter or stickles (in her dress & Toto collar) and some bling (lights from the building), yellow brick road (Tim Holtz embossed folder) and a die cut (landscape).  I finally used some fiber I've been hoarding as the grass and the yellow ribbon had a brick pattern so I added it for color.

Now for the winner of Scrap of Color

The Wiz featuring Scarecrow

It's Scraps of Color relay challenge with the third character of  The Wiz featuring Scarecrow played by Michael Jackson.  Robert Jackson is ROCKING these images!  I was inspired creating him while watching The Wiz.  Can you believe I still have it on VHS?  LOL  It's my 3rd favorite movie and an awesome musical!  I just had to share a clip a little over four minutes featuring Michael Jackson's singing the Crow's Anthem before he got off the pole to follow the yellow brick road.  As you know, he didn't have a brain and was made of garbage and junk.  We had to use recycled objects and have a brick wall or piece one on our card.  I'm making tags for the series and used a brick road.

My recycled products include:

  • Hat - brown paper bag
  • Nose - brad
  • Belt - eyelets tied with hemp cord
  • His body - straw from a Christmas basket
  • Shoes - corrugated box
  • Tag - covered with newspaper

The sunflowers are colored with acrylic paint and I put the Sparkly Fluff in the middle of two of them.

Quote reads:  Ignorance is the night of the mind, but a night without moon and star. -- Confucius
I apologize for the blurry photo. Will see if I can take a better shot!

The Wiz featuring Lion

If you haven’t heard already, Scraps of Color is having The Wiz relay challenge.  Our first image was the Tin Man.  And now we are featuring the Lion. You remember him..…the one with no courage.  I was gifted A Little Book of Hugs to Encourage and Inspire one year.   There is a quote in it that reads, “Courage is fear that has said its prayers”.  I’m feeling courageous!
My creation is a tag using this gorgeous image by Robert Jackson.  He never cease to amaze me with his designs.  This challenge is to use COURAGE on the card and we can pick one or all 3 on our projects:   dry embossing, jute and/or burlap.   I chose burlap.  To make Lion come alive, I put Brown Sugar Sparkly Fluff by Our Craft Lounge for his hair and tail.  Copics were used for his outfit.  Then I went in my stash to select brown, bronze and chocolate paper and embellishments.  My goal was to add different textures.  The ribbon was used to tie a knot at the top and I pleated it at the bottom.

Have a great week and it is my prayer that you are warm and cozy.  Be encouraged!

The Wiz featuring Tin Man

Scraps of Color is having The Wiz relay challenge.  In order to continue with the relay you must create and post your project before the deadline using the given image.  The first image is the Tin Man character by Robert Jackson and you must use silver/metal embellishments.  I used a metal sheet, arrow, heart, mini bottle clip on top of a spiral paperclip and eyelets. The quote reads "Hearts will never be practical until they are made unbreakable."  I piled it on while watching my third favorite movie!  Gotta Love the music featuring Michael Jackson and Diana Ross among other great artist.  Barry Gordy did a phenomenal job with the soundtrack.
