New Beginnings at Twist of Faith

When I saw this image by Robert Jackson it immediately took me back to those days when deacons in the church would bow down on their knees and pray unto the Lord.    One of our associate pastors mentioned religion vs. relationship in his pastoral message and it's stuck with me for a while.  It's enough to say we are Christians, but we have to study His Word.  Then we will develop that relationship with him.   At Twist of Faith we are having a 'New Beginnings - Anything Goes' challenge.  I don't care to make New Year Resolutions or promises that I seldom keep.  My goal is to read the bible in it's entirety in 2014.  It is my prayer that I stay focused with the One Day Bible and read with understanding. The scripture I added to this card is powerful and comes from Proverbs 4:1-7.  Hope you join us this week.

Mini Album Card of Memories

Hope you join our “Your Favorite” challenge this week, which could be your favorite scripture, image, color or technique at Twist of Faith. My favorite is ‘Mini Albums’ so my card is a ‘Mini Album Card of Memories’.  My focused has been solely on cards since I send them out as Courtesy chair for my sorority, but I need to find the time for memory making.  I remember when I made my first Christmas album and shared it at our family Christmas breakfast for two years straight.  It was the highlight reminiscing the moments in time and I haven’t had it back since.  Well there will be no excuse this year being my nephews’ first Christmas, I’ve got to capture the memories and make his album.  As I pulled some Christmas photos out I came across some photos which were in 1998 & 1999.  Fortunately I had these packaged by date.  So you are looking at a ‘Mini Album Card’…My favorite.   I want to thank Milk Coffee for the trim the tree image. My mother’s Christmas tradition is trimming trees so this card will be going to her for Christmas.

Our sponsor MilkCoffee will be giving our winner five images and they are adorable!   Come share and don’t forget to mention “Your Favorite” in your post as well as our ‘Twist of Faith’ ….your card must include a scripture, verse or quote that is encouraging, uplifting or inspiring.   Let me share some views of my Mini Album Card!

Joy to the World

Sing with me, "Joy To The World" the Lord is come! Let earth receive her King; Let every heart prepare Him room, And heav'n and nature sing, And heav'n and nature sing, And heav'n and heav'n and nature sing.  Did it bring a smile to your face?  Every worship we open with a congregational song from the hymn book and this is the song of the month.  Joy To The World! I love this image by Melonheadz and she's rewarding one bundle of her cute images.  We would love for you to join us in this week's "Nativity" challenge, but don't forget the "Twist of Faith" ...it must include an uplifting, healing, inspirational and/or scripture on the card.  Be sure to stop by and see what the other Design Team created.  You'll be inspired!

As I teach in my Sunday School class, the greatest JOY is putting
Jesus - First
Others - Second
Yourself - Last

Christmas Blessings

It's Tuesday and time for another Twist of Faith card challenge. Challenge #67 is all about the traditional Christmas.  Our church worships at Ashton Nursing Home every Sunday afternoon, but the Sunday before Christmas we bless them with bags of warm fuzzy blankets, robes, socks, etc.  Our mother fills the home with Christmas decors all over the house.  We attend Sunrise Worship and the entire Jones family get together Christmas morning for breakfast, fun, fellowship, memory lane and photo shots.  So....what's your tradition(s)?
Create a card and don't forget to include a scripture, uplifting quote/sentiments or positive verse in order to be considered for the random prize. Our sponsor is Robyn's Fetish and she is awarding five digital images! Now let's check out my card. My uplifting quote is "Christmas Blessings". That's what I wish to you.

Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace,
goodwill toward men. Luke 2:14

O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree

First let me thank Cazzy and the Design Team at  Quirky Crafts  for the wonderful opportunity of being their Guest Designer.  This week's challenge is  'A Christmas project with a twist' and the sponsor is The Cutting Cafe.  There are three prizes so you don't want to miss out on her amazing  projects.  Oh and you can work on your project while listening to the sounds of Nat King Cole from Christmas Treasures Vol 2 that's playing at Quirky Crafts place!  Now this is my creation.
My first scrapbook convention was the Simply Southern Scrapbook Convention in Nashville, TN in 2003.  WOW  I had no idea what I was getting myself into.  It was an overwhelming yet pleasant experience.  One of my purchases was a wire/bead kit.  My intention was to write in cursive with wire.  Since I didn't get a chance to take a class or learn the technique it's been in my stash for 10 years.  Trimming the tree is one of my favorite traditions at Christmas and I decided to use The Cutting Cafe Christmas Sentiment Shapes.  Here's a close up of the tree.  I used Martha Stewart's fringe scissors on the edges and pulled the wire around the tree inserting three beads in the front adhered with my glue gun.
This is the Christmas shapes and sentiments you receive with this set from The Cutting Cafe!

The fiber came from my mother's stash.  I told her, "Sure I can find a use for it"...and I did!
Also in my mother's stash was some tiny strands of garland.  I made good use of it too!  The outside of the stocking has Christmas stickles all around it

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas - Be Merry

Okay so I can't get enough of this Mo Digital image because it reminds me so much of Sweet Baby nephew.  I'm sending this card to his father.  My brother is going to be surprised.  We took several pictures of him under the tree in his outfit after I trimmed his tree.  Sweet Baby had on his Christmas outfit and we're going to send photos to family and friends.

Snow Beary Cute

Sweet Baby Bear is dreaming of Christmas morning when he visits family.  I can see my four month old nephew handed from one hand to another.  He loves to laugh and  yes he gets his sleep.  It will be his first Christmas!  His quilt colored with BicMark-it markers was inspired by the glittered snowflakes.  I can't wait to attend Sunrise worship on Christmas morning and then family breakfast with the entire Jones family!

Goodwill Toward Men

What a wonderful scripture!  I'm joining Christmas At Sweet Stampin this week for their #64 WOW challenge (White on White).  This sweet image and sentiment is by DayDreamsDesign.  Doesn't it bring a sense of peace and calmness to this all white card?  In the background is Stampin Up embossing folder to reveal the clouds.  Peace to you in blogland!  I'm also sharing with Word Art Wednesday  Challenge #109 Anything Goes - Scripture & Really Reasonable Ribbon Challenge #85 Bingo (white, digi, glitter).

Have you trimmed the tree?

My tree is up with no presents, but that's okay.  Thank you God for His Unspeakable Gift.  Let us not get caught up with buying gifts that we forget the "Reason for the Season".  Over at Scraps of Color E:spire I shared my Design Team project and I've done a few more.  They are ornaments made with a coaster, stick, fiber and embellishments!  Some of my favorite embellies that I keep hoarding, but not anymore.  They are so old I can't remember who they are by or when I got them. I'm making some for my niece and nephew!  As you see the theme is Santa Claus is coming to town.

Here's a close up view. I placed rudolph on my snowflake. As you know, they are depending on his nose to lead the way through the snow storm.
Here's my second ornament in red and white for my niece. Joy to the World
Here's a close up view.  Bells are on top of the Prima flowers with branches from Martha Stewart punch.
This is the ornament I made for the Design Team where you can see how it all got started here.  The blue was made for my nephew.
This is a picture of my 2013 tree.  Decorating trees is a tradition of my mothers.  As soon as I finish my ornaments, I'll decorate my small tree with them and they will be sent to my niece and nephew for their 2014 trees!

Birthday Surprise

This card was made for my Scrappy Sister MJ’s mother for her 85th birthday. Isn’t she a pretty lady? The image was personally done by Robert Jackson. He's great!  You send him a photo and his gifted hands creates an A+wesome self digital image reasonably priced!. I'm sure she was on her way to church in this lovely ensemble. Her children are throwing her a surprise birthday party.  That's right....Celebrate Life!  I decided to write Happy Birthday and sign my name on the inside.  I hope she keeps it visible in reach just in case she has those days that are not as better as others.  I'm hoping this card would put an instant smile on her face.

I bring you Season's Greetings from Twist of Faith card challenges featuring Digi Darla's Christmas Bells & Garland digi image.  Bells are ringing Christmas Joy.  I used solid card stock to compliment the colors from my Bic Mark-it markers.  My sweet scrappy sister Tamika gifted me one holiday season with these markers and I absolutely love them.  They come in a small case and they are easy to carry along.

Sure hope you join us this week at Twist of Faith card challenges for our Baubles and Bells theme.  I just want to remind you to use your uplifting, healing, inspiration or scripture.

All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: "The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel" — which means, "God with us."
