Keeping the Dream Alive

Monday, January 16th was not a day off for me.  It was a day to Keep the Dream Alive. I volunteered at the National Civil Rights Museum.  My post was at the Brown vs. Board of Education and Little Rock Nine exhibits.  I enjoyed quizzing the young people to see how much they knew.  They were a wealth of information and some were taking notes!  It is important that we not lose the vision and Keep the Dream Alive all year long. If you ever come to Memphis, put the National Civil Rights Museum on your list of 'Sites to Visit'.

I ended the day making this over at Scraps of Color for the Martin Luther King, Jr  Inspired ATC Challenge.

Supplies:  Karen Foster mini charm, Kaisercraft bling, To Form A More Perfect Union African American postal stamp collection - 1961 Freedom Riders picture by May Stevens.

Happy New Year 2012!

Well it's a New Year Praise GOD.  I had to post December 2011 mini album I created using the Little Yellow Bicycle acrylic album, paper pack & embellishments I purchased a couple of years ago.  I used other Christmas embellies from my stash.  This was inspired by Moanica at Scraps of Color E:spire for the December Daily project.  I must admit my photos are not that clear.  I'm on the hunt for a 'big girl' camera!  Hope you enjoy it and as always thanks for looking.

Day 1 Decorating the Christmas tree is a 30+ year tradition by Mama Minnie.  She used a white tree this year decorating with gold and bold ornaments.
Day 2  My burgundy & gold tree topped with a singing angel has a small train underneath it along with a four eyed reindeer.  It was given to me as a prank gift many years.  I love it!

Day 3 I love decorating trees.  This one was decorated for my cousin Christine using pink & blue. My mother tied the bows for me and I used the pink pearls to add a feminine touch.
Day 4 My favorite beverage is a spiced tea made by my scrappy friend & soror Regina E.

Day 5 Played around with a youtube video and created the sour cream tube filled with candy.   Page to the right is a pocket page filled with tags.

Day 6 My Favorite Ornaments are angels my Mom bought for my tree one year.  I hung them on my chandelier and they actually stay there throughout the year.
Day 7 My favorite toy is my doll I've had since my 1st Christmas given to me my aunt affectionately called Mamatine. Precious is 50 years old.

Day 8 Snow came down pretty without sticking to the ground!!!
Day 9 was a papercrafting day.

Day 10 My 3rd tree was a crafty one filled with tags from swaps & FNC @ SOC. Thinking about making Tim Holtz tags next year and put them on the tree.
Day 11 We did the 12 days of Christmas at work. My group made the Santa treat.  This was inspired from a blog on Pinterest.com.

Day 12 is an explosion box that I will fill with family photos.
Day 13 Marisa, Rhoda & LJ came to visit me.  LJ made me the cutest picture using my crafty tools.  He is a joy & we celebrated Rhoda's birthday.

Day 14 A mini collection of Holiday RAKS from my crafty friends at SOC .
Day 15 Had a little anticipation for the holidays.  I love to count down the days.

Day 16 My brother Pat requested a homemade Red Velvet cake.  I love to bake.
Day 17 is a mini album made of envelopes to hold Christmas recipes.

Day 18 Favorite holiday moment was when my brother was saving for a lap top and Mom surprised him with one. It was exactly what he wanted.  The look on his face was priceless.
Day 19  Favorite Movies: Christmas Carol & This Christmas/Favorite  CDs: Mariah Carey & Harlem Boys Choir

Day 20 The ABC's of Christmas   (just thinking of something to fill another page)
Day 21 Made exam snack baskets for our collegiate sorors and placed them under my tree.  I make all things crafty as gifts now.

Day 22 Feeling a bit under the weather.  Nothing like Father's John, Vitamin C and tortilla soup to revive me.  The tortilla soup (one of my favorite soups) is a recipe from Down Home with the Neelys cookbook.
Day 23 My brother traveled home in his new car and added an ornament from the dealership to Mom's tree.

Day 24 The word for December is FAITH.
Day 25  On Christmas evening the 1st visitors to stop by Mama Minnie's house were Eboni & Laila Jai.  Their photos are in the mini album with the door on front wrapped in the ribbon.

Sure appreciate you for stopping by.  Wishing you a Happy Papercrafting year in 2012!!
