The Wiz featuring Evillene "The Wicked Witch"

Evillene really puts the "Ug in Ugly".  I can remember that line so cleary, which helped me to put her character in place.  As you know, over at Scraps of Color we are having fun with The Wiz characters and this is the 5th digital image by Robert Jackson.  He captured all the details.  Yes I got a clip for you if you want to see her coming out singing her song, "Don't Nobody Bring Me No Bad News" here.  Her dress was full of bling.  My creations are all tags.  I tried to incorporate the sweat shop theme in my tag with the sewing machine, strips of material on the end, a whip, and her word 'WORK' with scrabble letters. Don't get scared, let me know what you think.
Recipe:
Stampin up fabric
Ashland burlap
Creative Memories heart punch
Recollections flowers, fiber at the top and bling/pearls
Teresa Collins brad
EK Success scrabble letters
Colorbok Sandy Clough Sewing big sticker (sewing machine)
Stickles, Crystal, Christmas, Turquoise
Bic Mark it markers
Hobby Lobby metal charm

Ladies Night

I chaperoned a Sweet 16 party last night and got up this morning and finished this card.  It's a girlie card that reminded me of some of the teenagers last night.  They were darling in their dresses.  Of course they were drinking Koolaid instead of sparkling.
Recipe:
BIC Mark it markers
Martha stewart edge punch
EK Success flower punch
Recollections pearls
 String, lace, doily, flowers...so girlie!

The Wiz featuring Dorothy & Toto & Winner of SOC blog hop

Can't you feel a brand new day? Can't you feel a brand new day?  I LOVE the music in The Wiz. You can hear the song and see the video here sung by Diana Ross & Michael Jackson.  Quincy Jones did a phenomenal job!!  This is Scraps of Color fourth digital  image of The Wiz relay challenge created by Robert Jackson.  We were to incorporate the following in our project:  glitter or stickles (in her dress & Toto collar) and some bling (lights from the building), yellow brick road (Tim Holtz embossed folder) and a die cut (landscape).  I finally used some fiber I've been hoarding as the grass and the yellow ribbon had a brick pattern so I added it for color.

Now for the winner of Scrap of Color

Of course I had to use what was in my stash.  Before Archivers closed in Memphis, I purchased a Kaisercraft Chest drawer.   It was easy to put together.  I added Gesso to the wood, painted it white, covered it with paper and filled with embellishments from my stash. The red/black/white combo matches my scrap room.

Recipe Ingredients:
Kaisercraft drawer
Teresa Collins - Checking it Twice paper stack, chipboard, button
Tim Holtz - ticket and metal bird
Sizzix camera die cut
May Arts - Sheer Rossette Red
Hancock - lace
Making Memories silver flourish

Floral Fantasy

I received a ton (well not that many) of flowers from Michaels while perusing the bridal section a while back.  They are actually embossed shimmery table confetti.  I used them to make my 'Floral Fantasy' to go along with my creation for Verve stamps.  I cut an oval in the front to show the sentiment and added a floral arrangement with bling on the top. Ink was used on the mini chicken wire template on kraft paper. It was simple, easy and a great way to use a lot of the confetti!

Recipe ingredients
Verve - Let It Be sentiment
Recollection kraft card stock
TCW chicken wire template
Michaels confetti flowers and bling

Gift Card Holders

I decided to try a new technique, but didn't have time to find a tutorial.  A pack of small envelopes (3 1/2 x 5)  that are too little to create a card have been in my stash for a while.  I start measuring and putting things together and to make a long story short I made two.  The first one is an ATC card that was re purposed from my Design Team post at Scraps of Color E:spire 'A Love Story'.
The fold was tucked in to place the gift card. I measured the black/gray/white paper and put on top of the envelope.  I placed the ribbon around the enveloped and on top of the black/gray/white paper and used pop dots to apply the ATC card.
This is a free digi I got somewhere.  I just pulled out some scraps and basically played around until I got this design.  Unwrap the ribbon and you can insert the gift card.

Hugs and Kisses

This card is going to a very sweet big sister, who cleaned her closet out and blessed me with a whole new wardrobe.  What a blessing!  I'm sending this to her.  I'm not into this XOXO slang, but it was part of an embellishment kit and I thought it was cute.  I suppose Hugs and Kisses is just too much to write from some. I want to express my sincere thanks.  Isn't Ms Glamour Boots a cute fashion diva?!

Verve's February Diva Dare

I'm taking the dare at Verve's February Diva Dare challenge.  The dare is to make a card or project to perk someone up, whether it's a warm beverage or just a heartfelt sentiment to brighten someone's day.  This card is going to one of my sisters who has been back and forth to the hospital.  She's such a sweetie.  I know this will brighten her day.  She deserves to relax and enjoy the simple things in life until she gets back to 100%.  God has His way of getting our attention.  In the interim we should not rush, but relax and reflect on His goodness 'In The Process'.

With This Ring

......I Thee Wed.  It's not me, but for a lovely bride to be.  The inspiration is from my Design Team project featuring a "Love Story" at Scraps of Color E:spire.  I made the trading card not to trade, but to re purpose it. I put it on this fan. The bride will have a cute accessory to hold! That's Pink Paislee Pixee Stix coconut glitter on the handle of the fan.  The digital image is by Robert Jackson.

MOJO Monday 331

Wanted to play along this week with MOJO Monday 331.  Love the layers in this sketch.  This is my creation.  I used an ATC card from my Design Team post at Scraps of Color E:spire featuring a Love Story.  Instead of trading my ATC cards I will re purpose them to a Papercrafting item.  This one of course is a card, which I used scraps from my stash.  The red/white paper is tissue paper from a Martha Stewart treat kit for making muffins.

The Wiz featuring Scarecrow

It's Scraps of Color relay challenge with the third character of  The Wiz featuring Scarecrow played by Michael Jackson.  Robert Jackson is ROCKING these images!  I was inspired creating him while watching The Wiz.  Can you believe I still have it on VHS?  LOL  It's my 3rd favorite movie and an awesome musical!  I just had to share a clip a little over four minutes featuring Michael Jackson's singing the Crow's Anthem before he got off the pole to follow the yellow brick road.  As you know, he didn't have a brain and was made of garbage and junk.  We had to use recycled objects and have a brick wall or piece one on our card.  I'm making tags for the series and used a brick road.

My recycled products include:

  • Hat - brown paper bag
  • Nose - brad
  • Belt - eyelets tied with hemp cord
  • His body - straw from a Christmas basket
  • Shoes - corrugated box
  • Tag - covered with newspaper

The sunflowers are colored with acrylic paint and I put the Sparkly Fluff in the middle of two of them.

Quote reads:  Ignorance is the night of the mind, but a night without moon and star. -- Confucius
I apologize for the blurry photo. Will see if I can take a better shot!
