Let Go and Let God

Trying to use some scraps from my Persnickety paper pad.  I rarely use green and I love the way it came out.  It has an earthy look.  We know God created the heaven and earth so 'Let Go and Let God' was the perfect sentiment.  And below is a gateway card using the same paper.

Making a few cards for friends.  You can never go wrong with scripture sentiments.  I've been told the message was right on time.  Hope they are inspired as they read them.  I found this sketch to be quick and easy while I pull out my scraps to make it.  I'll be using this one again soon.  I decided to participate in both challenges by Viva La Verve.

MOJO Monday #336

My inspiration comes from several sources with this card.  First I started with MOJO Monday sketch.  Second I found Pinspirational and Inky Impressions were looking for green.  Third the polka dot challenge is going on at Verve's. With the sheet music 'Standing on the Promises of God' (from our church bulletin), I thought why not submit to Word Art Wednesday Uplifting Sentiments.

Mini Inspiration Session

What a great time we had Saturday.  I conducted an Inspiration session for our Jabborwock girls (not shown) in the photos below.  My sorority sisters got in the fun as it was enough kits made for them to be inspired.  It was an accordion mini with four tags.  I used Die Cut with a View paper stack.  Love the bright pretty colors of spring!  They were all similar in design. There is a tutorial I did on Scraps of Color E:spire.  You can find it here.

MOJO Monday 335

Thanks to MOJO Monday 335 for this sketch.  I'm sending this one to my former supervisor that has been a blessing to me at Porter-Leath.  It was a fulfilling position as a Job Readiness Trainer to touch so many lives and to see them working and providing for their families touched my heart.  We know a journey begins with one step, but there is a quote that says, "A year from now you may wish you had started today."  I trust they will never give up and always focus on the goal.

The Wiz featuring 'The Wiz'

This is our last character of The Wiz at Scraps of Color.  Hope you have enjoyed viewing them as much as I have enjoyed making them come alive.  Thanks again to our host MJ and Alice.  Robert Jackson is a gifted artist. I used black paper and dapped a silver ink pad on the chicken wire to make the background. and used a couple of hardware pieces.
Close up of the The Wiz.
The challenge was to use red, bling and the word hope on our project.

Quirky Crafts Guest Designer

Joined in with Quirky Crafts!!!  I was the winner of Challenge #3 - Wishes for 2014.  You have the opportunity to be a Guest Designer if you win a challenge!  How cool is that! Their sponsor is Unky and Challenge #5 is Secret Garden.  I'm using Aurora Cherry Blossom digital. This is my first time using a Japanese theme.  I wanted a fan for my card so I made my own using Tim Holtz rosette die cut. My sentiment reads, "Be Yourself everyone else is taken".  The image was colored with watercolor pencils.

Sweet Sixteen Candelabra

My co-worker asked for my crafty assistance to help with decors for her daughter Ruqaiyah's (Tiffany Theme) 16th birthday.  My challenge was the candelabra for the candle ceremony. It was made with Styrofoam.  I coated it with DecoArt MagiKote I found at Hancock fabrics.  Love that stuff.  Satin white ribbon was wrapped around the sides of the Styrofoam and pinned to stay in place. Various pearl and silver sticks were added to fill in between the letters and candles.  The 'Sweet 16' letters and numbers were colored with paint after covering with Gesso.

Close up

My mother covered and decorated the gift box as well as the other boxes.
Here's Ruqaiyah in her first dress.  I called her the 'Princess' as she was going around to greet her guest.
A selfie moment!  Oh how they grow up.  She's growing up gracefully.
Coming out in her second dress to thank all who came to help her celebrate.

Her mother watches as she lights her candles.

SO proud of her. She wants to be a Veterinarian.  Ruqaiyah has volunteered at the Memphis Zoo since last summer and the day after her party she volunteered.

Sunshine Mail Anything Green with a Shamrock

I'm bringing you Sunshine in spite of the weather forecast.  A card for a girl and boy.  The first card is an image from our sweet sponsor Stitchy Stamps Clover Heart.  Watch out...she's going to turn around and blow you kisses!

Not sure where I got this sweet little bird, but I'm sending it to my boy.  You can donate also.  The information to send a little sunshine to a child is here.  Hope you join us this month for the challenge and send your card!
