Holiday Altered Art

Happy Holidays!
Jackson's Digital Expressions Altered Arts Design Team created projects using any kind of container new or recyled from jars, cans, etc.  I enjoy working with Robert Jackson's cute digital images and have two projects to share.  The first is a canned jar of spiced tea I'm making for my mother's Thanksgiving table.  She started a Thanksgiving tradition over 20 years ago cooking dinner for her family and loves to give gifts.  The little jars will be used as table decor and given to her sisters.

Now for Christmas I used fabric on this project.  It's an old candle jar and it was truly an exciting time for me since it was my first opportunity to use fabric.  My Stampin Up buddy Sharon RAK'd her stampin group with a box of Designer Candy Cane Christmas Fabric and I knew I would use it, but not sure how.  I made the floral flower and put it on top of the Prima flower with leaves. I also tappered the cover and placed it on top securing it with felt fiber.

Now come on and create your altered item using any kind of container.  The theme is Holiday or Winter.  Here's a photo of them both.

Journey of the Heart

Scraps of Color is celebrating 8 years this month.  It's truly been a Journey of the Heart.  I look forward to our Friday Night Chats.  That's where we get together and a host/hostess gives us 30 minute challenges to create a card or something crafty. The adrenaline is amazing!!  Maxine Johnson was our hostess and I'm posting the 4th challenge first. It was to create a Thank You card that represents our appreciation for Tiare's vision.  It was supposed to be posted by midnight Friday, however,  I sat down for a minute in front of the tube and was out like a light lol.

Entered in the following challenges

Two Great Awarenesses in October

October has two important Awarenesses:  Domestic Violence AND Breast Cancer   Just this month a husband strangled his young wife and threw her body in the river.  The 'signs' were there for years.  God does not give us the spirit of fear, but of power; and of love, and a sound mind. II Timothy 1:7.  My sisters & brothers who are reading my post, please seek help if you are in a domestic violence situation.  Love doesn't hurt. You deserve better. I'm joining Brown Sugar Challenge # 12 Purple ribbon in getting the word out!

A Pink Explosion

Can you imagine the sky filled with pink rain pouring out a cure?  I love the awareness Breast Cancer brings in October.  It's really awesome when you can get men to support the cause.  Real Men do wear Pink.

Just sharing some ATC's I made for Brown Sugar Challenge #11 Breast Cancer Awareness ATCs

Word Art Wednesday

Hello fellow scrappers and friends! I created a layout.  Yes it's been a while.  I used this weeks scripture from Word Art Wednesday Challenge #49 - Be Ye Kind. Inspiration came from  Die Cut With A View Stack-a-holic Template Challenge.
DCWV The Music Stack -  paper
DCWV All Chalked Up neutral - base paper
Word Art Wednesday - scripture
Little Yellow Bicycle, American Traditional, Making Memories - titlework
Prima flowers

Okay so I'm trying to stop hoarding paper.  It's hard to use this paper stack because I can't find it anywhere.  It's The Music Stack and it has gorgeous papers inside.  I used mostly teal, orange and peach.

I was searching for some pictures and this old photo connected with this weeks scripture at WAW.  I love teaching Sunday School.  I must say children are so much different than when I was growing up.  If parents could just spend a little more quality time instead of letting technology take all their time it would be sooooo much better.
BUT.....It is my prayer that they continue to grow in Christ.

Still Celebrating Life

When I was getting ready to check out at Joanns and saw the Tic Tac with the Breast Cancer ribbon,  I immediately went to find the turorial from the Snowman project by Stampin Up. Each member of our Young Womens Association is suppose to put something in our Survivors goodie bags.
I found Kristens Kreations tutorial and created these for our Breast Cancer Survivors for Pink Sunday.
Entered in Link Up For Pink.  Their blog is full of support.
Saturday afternoon my sorority Delta Sigma Theta Memphis Alumnae Chapter Celebrated Life with survivors at the Richard & Annette Bloch Cancer Survivor Park.  It was a busy area since there was a craft fair, but we found a few! Some sorority sisters, other greeks, family, co-workers and friends.
This survivor received my card and said it reminded her of her granddaughter. Oh it touched my heart.  I tell you it's nothing life a homemade card.  It is entitled 'Dream'.
Our soror Annie came a bit later, but she still got a chance to celebrate with a few other sorors that stayed around to take pictures and enjoy the moment.
Here's a handful of our new sorors.  I told them I didn't like pictures with a simple pose.  Hey it's a celebration right?  I think they got the picture!
Line sisters celebrating over five years in Delta...Still actively involved
What a blessed day and awesome event.  I'll be attending Cropping for a Cure next Saturday.  I feel a few layouts coming from these photos!  Thanks for stopping by.
