Word Art Wednesday

Hello everyone TGIF!
Never never never give up by Winston Churchill is the Word Art Wednesday message for the week. Don't you recall last week I mentioned Robert Jackson digitals go so well with these messages? Just check out the two friends below.

Sometimes we have to encourage ourselves and what a blessing to have supportive friends when you are going through a storm.   I attended a Black Family Reunion celebration August 1994. Iyanla Vanzant was the speaker and she signed my book 'Acts of Faith' Daily Meditations For People of Color.  The message she wrote was "Don't give up 5 minutes before the miracle - Have Faith!"  Love Iyanla.  Those words often echo in my mind and I can say from experience, GOD is always faithful and I'm going to trust him for He is my ROCK and I know He won't let me fail!  Be encouraged my friends and have a Wonderful Weekend.

Card will be entered in Word Art Wednesday  & MOJO Monday #251 challenges

Relax

Lately I've been making more time to read.   It's relaxing and Magazine Margie digi from Sassy Studio Designs is doing just that. This is my entry for Brown Sugar Challenge Blog BSCB-3 using  Black and White with a splash of color.

While everyday brings new experiences, I try to keep my mind opened for learning.  Knowledge is power.  I want to read and apply.  In my pile are magazines from Cooking Light, Ebony, Essence, Shape, Health, Weight Watchers, and Real Simple.  No more subscriptions for me.  Mmmmmm I think I'll go and grab a magazine now. Talk to you later.

McKenzie's bucket of goodies

Join in the fun at Jacksons Digital Expressions for our Anything Goes Challenge #15. It's Altered Art with a Back to School theme and a chance to win digi's from Robert Jackson & Mayzy!

Coipc and LePlume markers

This little altered Paint Can was made for my little cousin McKenzie often used in my layouts. Since she's so cute and girlie, I put little girl's bubblebath, lotion, spray and a loofah sponge in it.   Her bedroom is pink, purple and green. Can't wait to see her face when she receives it!

Used my stash of alphabets. I love Martha Stewart's elephant punch!

The flower is from a crop, I added a button.

Is this not the cutest digi stamp?!  Check out the bling on the mirror. She's going to get a kick out of it.

and
I also altered an altoid tin box for a First+Aid kit using Mayzy's (Under the Weather Xandra) digital image.  She hardly ever gets sick so I'm going to put some peppermints in it.

Word Art Wednesday

I am loving the Word Art Wednesday site and I am finding  Robert Jackson  digitals work so well with their Word Art.
Recipe:
Word Art Wednesday - Word Art
Robert Jackson - Digital Stamp
Stampin Up - Garden Collage set
Studio g - Paper Stack
Copic and Bic Mark-it Markers
Tim Holtz - Distress Inks
Gartner - Yellow table confetti flowers
Recollections - bling

This weeks message is "His eye is on the sparrow and I know He watches me."  His digi  'Phoebe Playing with Butterflies' spoke to my spirit.  Then I added an old Stampin Up rubber stamp from the  'Garden Collage' set. The bird and sheet music with the word 'Sing' had me singing the song while creating this card.  I went to You Tube to find the song to listen to and found Whitney Houston   singing it from the soundtrack of the upcoming movie 'Sparkle'. Wooooooooooo I had to stop and just PRAISE GOD! Hallelujah...Thank you Jesus for the gift of Papercrafting. I pray that my work is an inspiration to those who see and receive it!  I sing because I'm happy, I sing because I'm free.  His eye is on the sparrow and I know He watches me.   Often we look for things to fill our void or others to love us and make us happy, but Happiness comes from within.  Are you happy?  If  you have a moment just leave one reason for your happiness. Share the goodness of Jesus and have a blessed day!

Word Art Wednesday

I'm entering these two cards for Word Art Wednesday challenge.  I've been wanting to use the first digi for quite some time.  It reminds me of my Great Cousin Sarah affectionately called Aunt Sarah. I spent a couple of summers with Aunt Sarah & Uncle Sam in my younger days. We had so much fun cooking, planting flowers, crocheting and talking about Jesus.  It's nothing like 'old souls'.  They can really pour some wisdom in your mind.  I wouldn't trade my journey for nothing with the love and guidance that I received as a child.  It's amazing how it sticks with me daily.  Guess what?  Before papercrafting, crocheting was my favorite hobby.

This card was made for a friend who recently lost her husband, who was a wonderful man and father.  He was the manager of the Chevrolet dealership in which I purchased my first car.  He will always be remembered by his genuine smile and professionalism. I wanted to create something that would express a celebration of his life and hope she is encouraged.

Pat's Altered Printers Tray

This tray was made for my brother Patrick. Although I purchased it a couple years ago, I kind of had several ideas in my mind so I might be doing one more for him. I absolutely love making ATC's, so this was easy to create. I didn't have to purchase one thing.  It all came from my stash of goodies.  Since we've been challenged at SOC to use items we've been hoarding for years. I decided to do just that to mix in with my recent purchases.  I found a grunge board, metal sheet, pewter brads, Cherished ribbon, and photo of the Memphis bridge taken in year 2000.
Recipe:

7 Gypsies printers tray
Tim Holtz game spinner,  sprocket gear, paper rosette die cut, grunge board,
Tim Holtz retro grunge paper stash and embossing die
Making Memories metal key, brads, metal charm
Quickutz metal and cork board sheets
Bo Bonny Timepiece collection paper
ATC card by Edie from SOC swap
K &Company embossed sticker
Robert Jackson digital stamp
Graphic 45 Curtain call paper
EK Success sticker alphabets
Hancock Fabrics lace
Bic Mark-it markers
Jolee stickers

ATC card compliments of Edie at SOC.
Added a spocket gear on the rosette die cut

Used the embossing folder on the metal sheet and the camera is attached to the black fiber.
Do you see the grunge board in the background?

The image reminds me so much of our grandfather 'Papa', who was a deacon.
He was a praying man and we miss him dearly.
I can still see him crawl out the bed on his knees.
Before he said good morning he would talk to the Lord.

Sites in Memphis!

Yes that's Mama Minnie's word....FAITH!
The garden embellishments remind us both of remembering our foundation
something Mama Minnie reminds us often.

You know its one thing to put your heart and love in what you create, but to see the look on one's face when they receive it is truly heartwarming.  He absolutely LOVED it!  Oh it makes my heart all warm and fuzzy.  Thanks for stopping by.

Word Art Wednesday

This card was submitted in the Word Art Wednesday Challenge.  This is the last of my scraps from Cosmo Cricket Earth Love paper stack.  I made a house mini album and didn't use this page.  Well it certainly didn't go to waste. I thought this digital image from Whoopsie Daisy would be the perfect home for it. I used Martha Stewart loop edge punch to make the roof. Thanks for stopping by!

Soul Sisters

Todays posting for Platinumscraps is from Sketchabilities #66. I love this sketch.

This is my take on it. I saw the birdcage and grabbed the Mariposa paper stack. It's been a while since I played with the Tattered Angels mist so I got a kick out of that.  You will be seeing more of it on my creations. The butterflies were handcut out of the pretty paper stack. The black doily was purchased at a scrapbook convention. I can't remember what vendor.

It's a Happy Day!

...inspite of the HEAT

Happy 4th of July!  I thank GOD to be in the land of the free.  Hope you are keeping cool.  Don't forget to check on your neighbors.

I want to tell you about my scrappy friend Mika, better known as Jojorenee.  Alike me, she celebrates her birthday the entire month although it's on the 23rd.  Mika has some excitement going on at her blog with a Throw Back Birthday Bash. Love the idea!  She's giving away a blog prize but you have to participate.  The prize will be a card kit made up of wonderful American Crafts Shoreline papers.

It's easy as 1-2-3. Leave a comment, share a post and participate in her weekly challenges will increase your chances. As a matter of fact, this is the card I created for her 1st Card Sketch Challenge.   Hope I can do them all

Recipe:

Wishing you the best Jojorenee!  Happy Throw Back Birthday....
