Scraps of Color is celebrating 8 years this month.  It's truly been a Journey of the Heart.  I look forward to our Friday Night Chats.  That's where we get together and a host/hostess gives us 30 minute challenges to create a card or something crafty. The adrenaline is amazing!!  Maxine Johnson was our hostess and I'm posting the 4th challenge first. It was to create a Thank You card that represents our appreciation for Tiare's vision.  It was supposed to be posted by midnight Friday, however,  I sat down for a minute in front of the tube and was out like a light lol.

Entered in the following challenges

Brown Sugar Challenge #13 Anything Goes
Thank you Tiare!  It's been a Journey of the Heart.  The photo below was taken at Simply Southern Scrapbooking Convention in Franklin, TN back in 2006.  It's where I met Tiare for the first time.  She was teaching a paperbag mini and one of the Queens (Rhoda top left) took that class.  Praise God for Tiare's vision and for the wonderful family of Scraps of Color.

Two Great Awarenesses in October

October has two important Awarenesses:  Domestic Violence AND Breast Cancer   Just this month a husband strangled his young wife and threw her body in the river.  The 'signs' were there for years.  God does not give us the spirit of fear, but of power; and of love, and a sound mind. II Timothy 1:7.  My sisters & brothers who are reading my post, please seek help if you are in a domestic violence situation.  Love doesn't hurt. You deserve better. I'm joining Brown Sugar Challenge # 12 Purple ribbon in getting the word out!

Scraps of Color is still celebrating Breast Cancer Awareness with the Girlfriends theme.  This card is posted for Robert Jackson Challenge #5 using the color pink and a diecut.  This was my first time using the Spectrum Noir markers.  I am joining them in their October Challenge coloring my digital image with Spectrum Noir markers and using flowers as an embellishment.

A Pink Explosion

Can you imagine the sky filled with pink rain pouring out a cure?  I love the awareness Breast Cancer brings in October.  It's really awesome when you can get men to support the cause.  Real Men do wear Pink.

Just sharing some ATC's I made for Brown Sugar Challenge #11 Breast Cancer Awareness ATCs

Word Art Wednesday

Hello fellow scrappers and friends! I created a layout.  Yes it's been a while.  I used this weeks scripture from Word Art Wednesday Challenge #49 - Be Ye Kind. Inspiration came from  Die Cut With A View Stack-a-holic Template Challenge.
DCWV The Music Stack -  paper
DCWV All Chalked Up neutral - base paper
Word Art Wednesday - scripture
Little Yellow Bicycle, American Traditional, Making Memories - titlework
Prima flowers

Okay so I'm trying to stop hoarding paper.  It's hard to use this paper stack because I can't find it anywhere.  It's The Music Stack and it has gorgeous papers inside.  I used mostly teal, orange and peach.

I was searching for some pictures and this old photo connected with this weeks scripture at WAW.  I love teaching Sunday School.  I must say children are so much different than when I was growing up.  If parents could just spend a little more quality time instead of letting technology take all their time it would be sooooo much better.
BUT.....It is my prayer that they continue to grow in Christ.

Still Celebrating Life

When I was getting ready to check out at Joanns and saw the Tic Tac with the Breast Cancer ribbon,  I immediately went to find the turorial from the Snowman project by Stampin Up. Each member of our Young Womens Association is suppose to put something in our Survivors goodie bags.
I found Kristens Kreations tutorial and created these for our Breast Cancer Survivors for Pink Sunday.
Entered in Link Up For Pink.  Their blog is full of support.
Saturday afternoon my sorority Delta Sigma Theta Memphis Alumnae Chapter Celebrated Life with survivors at the Richard & Annette Bloch Cancer Survivor Park.  It was a busy area since there was a craft fair, but we found a few! Some sorority sisters, other greeks, family, co-workers and friends.
This survivor received my card and said it reminded her of her granddaughter. Oh it touched my heart.  I tell you it's nothing life a homemade card.  It is entitled 'Dream'.
Our soror Annie came a bit later, but she still got a chance to celebrate with a few other sorors that stayed around to take pictures and enjoy the moment.
Here's a handful of our new sorors.  I told them I didn't like pictures with a simple pose.  Hey it's a celebration right?  I think they got the picture!
Line sisters celebrating over five years in Delta...Still actively involved
What a blessed day and awesome event.  I'll be attending Cropping for a Cure next Saturday.  I feel a few layouts coming from these photos!  Thanks for stopping by.

Celebrating 8 years of SOC Blog Hop

Welcome to SOC's 8th Anniversary Blog Hop! I'm glad you stopped by for the celebration! If you're dropping by from Kristen's, then you're in the right place! However, if you started here, you can visit the Scraps Of Color E:spire blog to join this party from the beginning!

To commemorate Scraps of Color's 8th birthday, I, along with some talented papercrafters, have teamed up to share projects based on the celebrations in our lives. We wanted to have this special blog hop to celebrate this great crafting community where we laugh, play, and create together and encourage and inspire one another. Of course, a blog hop isn't complete without blog candy! There will be giveaways on various blogs throughout the hop! Plus there will be a SOC blog hop gift awaiting one visitor!! To be eligible for that prize, you must comment on all the blogs by Monday, Oct. 8 at 11pm EST. From all who are eligible, one lucky reader will be randomly drawn. The winner will be posted on all the participating blogs on Wednesday, Oct. 10.

Everytime you go to a crop there is always a name tag.  Sometimes they stick and sometimes they fall off.   Well I decided to be creative and make my own name tag when I’m with my scrappy friends or attending a crop.

I purchased a small crown & oval wooden shape along with the white rosettes from Michael's. The wooden pieces are covered with DCWV Lacreme Paper stack. The Crop til you Drop brad is by Karen Foster. The butterfly is a Martha Stewart punch punched with her paper.  The red flower and heart blings are Prima.   I used Copic, Bic Mark-it markers, Gelly pen and Glossy accents for the digital.  The netting is from my Mom.  The Princess bling is a RAK from my Scrappy friend Mary J along with my personal digital image. How cool is that?

Thank you Mary J for my birthday gift.  Now I must pass on the blessing.  So with that said someone who leaves me a comment about my tag and be a follower will have the honor of receiving a $10 gift certificate from the best artist yet.....Robert Jackson digitals.  Winner will be selected by random.org.

It's a Wonderful Wednesday and I'm posting two more cards in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness.  The first card is a digi from Robert Jackson and the second card is a digi from Sassy Studio Designs.   They are both created from scraps in my stash and colored with Bic Mark-it and Copic markers. I'm getting ready for our Pink Sunday and making sure I have enough cards to warm the survivors hearts.

I folded the paper at the bottom and inserted brads to hold it together.  Sometimes I think scraps make the best cards. What do you think?

Pink Sunday continues

Well it's Tuesday and I promised more Breast Cancer Awareness postings throughout the month of October.  Still celebrating the life of our Breast Cancer Survivors and I need to make a few more cards.  I got a little inspiration with a couple of card sketches.  As you see the BCA Voices is singing 'Faith'.  Faith will move mountains! If you have the faith of a little bitty tiny seed, you know there is no limit what GOD can do.  We just have to pray and believe.

By the way, All images are by Robert Jackson. Take a look at the second sketch.  I got my Praise on listening to Richard Smallwood "Total Praise."  Love his music!! LOVE the song.  I'll probably revisit the sketch and do another one.  Now you can't tell me after listening to that song your hand don't go up in the air or you just might find yourself around the house moving in a Praise dance.  I lift my hands in Total Praise......Let everything that has breath praise the LORD!  or the rocks will cry out.

Just a reminder...Don't forget to link up your pink/BCA creations for the Second Annual  Link Up For Pink party or click on their button to my right!!
I'll be entering these cards in:
