Sundays Best

It’s Sunday Best at Brown Sugar Challenge featuring Come Sunday Digital stamps by Robert Jackson.  Since I used several of the digitals in the altered coasters I posted in June, I decided to use them in Pink Sunday. My church celebrates Pink Sunday on the 3rd Sunday in October.  The first card is the pastor bringing the message from Word Art Wednesday scripture I Peter 5:7.

Feminine vs. Masculine

Todays post has a feminine and masculine touch.  As you know, October celebrates the lives of our Breast Cancer survivors.  Scraps of Color is having a Girlfriends Relay Challenge and last week’s feature was  Toni Childs on the hit TV sitcom.  Robert Jackson is the artist. I used micro beads on her dress....You know Ms. Toni

Toni played the one that was stuck on ‘self’, but as you see she’ll give you one free hug for the cause.  There is always LOVE centered around many who struggle to live and those who want to give.  Memascrafts is giving proceeds for entering a BCA/pink project so there is still time to enter.
AND
I don’t make many masculine cards so I was thrilled to give it a try.  The vintage car was received in a swap and of course the gear was added  for Tuesday Alchemy challenge.    I just love the sentiment. Can’t remember where I found it from. This card was inspired by Vintage Elusions.

Jackson's Digital Expressions Request Your Support

Hello everyone,
On Tuesday, September 25, 2012, Jackson's Digital Expressions  will be starting early on our mission to show support for Breast Cancer Awareness. Im sure you are like me with several you know who have fought the fight or in the fight. Check out my past creations.  Here's one of them.

I am a Design Team member and we have a few members that have pledged to donate $.25 to Breast Cancer Research for every entry in our challenge. We are not looking for monetary donations only your participation! Post a notice on your blog. Tell your crafty friends to join in.
Also our sister site Mema's Crafts  is pledging $10 for every 40 entries (cumulative) she gets in her October challenge. Lets fight this together. Pink is the color often used for Breast Cancer Awareness, but breast cancer has no color. It effects all of us. Wont you join us?

Ill be posting a new creation every Tuesday in October. Most important .... Have you had your mammogram this year? I've scheduled mine.

A Friend Loves at All times

I slipped in a layout this week!  My two post are about friends. I want to start off with this card, which I think I went card challenge crazy, but I so love creating using all the various elements.

Entered in Tuesday Morning sketches using sketch - #164
Entered in Word Art Wednesday word art #46 - Friends

 ==================================================
Next this layout was created for Classy Girl Sketch and Stash Challenge  week 33.  Below is the inspiration and my take on the sketch.  We were to grab two photos and a page kit.  The paper and chipboard embellies are from Target's $1 bin yearssssss ago.  I'm not sure if they still sell scrapbook kits in their dollar bin.  The papers are indeed pretty, but they are very thin.  Since I'm use to working with cardstock, it was a bit delicate for me.  Title reads:  Back in the Day -  FRIENDS.  I've been a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc  since 1982 and my sorors have been a blessing to me.

The journaling was a bit light, but it reads, "Relationships create the fabric of our lives.  They are the fibers that weave all things together. - Eden Froust.  Thought it was most appropriate since I used  different patterns and colors.  We are Friends and Sorority Sisters.  In the photos Janiece is standing next to me and that's us again squatting down chatting 'as usual'.  We've been friends since age 5 and now we are 51....WOW!

Well until my next post friends....Have a Wonderful Weekend!

Two Cute

It's that time again to win some free digital stamps at Jacksons Digital Expressions Color Challenge #23.  I have two cute cards to share.  The first is using two digital stamps from Fine Arts by Robert Jackson.  His work is remarkable. Although I used 'Cute' as the sentiment, I'm sure that young man is saying something else. : )  Maybe a date?  Maybe a sweet compliment?
Entered in Classy Card Sketch Challenge 5
On both cards I used a paper pack from the Dollar Tree I purchased yearsssssssssss ago.  The blue is a denim print, the pink a heart print and I used DCWV mat stack for the yellow. The little roses are from Michael's.  Our sponsor this week is My Heart Pieces.

Entered in CPS #283

Don't forget the challenge ends soon at Jackson's Digital Expressions.  Our Design Team was inspired using these colors.  Be sure to post your project by Sunday.

Inspirational ATC

These ATC's were created for Scraps of Color  Trade it Tuesday ATC Challenge. We were to create with Inspirational words.  Of course everything was from my stash of scraps. That's why it's so hard for me to throw anything away.   The scripture says, A friend is always loyal, and a brother is born to help in time of need. Proverbs 17:17    I use to think it was selfish to keep all my scraps. Kind of made me feel like a hoarder, but how amazing it is to take scraps and make treasures!  Then you have no other choice but to share them with others.

I love how these turned out. I think my next batch will be scriptures so I can make them for my Young Women Association. This batch will be entered in Word Art Wednesday challenge #44 encouraging and uplifting.  My favorite at the top is 'A Special Day' and my favorite from the bottom is 'Weekend Getaway'.  Which one is your favorite?

Wisdom Only Comes with Age

Four siblings each on my mothers and fathers side still living a Blessed Life.  The photo on the top is of my mother age 74 (fourth) and the oldest is my Auntie Granny age 90 (second). The  bottom photo is my father's sisters.  They are all sweet ladies and are too cute as they age. I LOVE having conversations with them.  The many times I call to check on them and see how they are doing, they end up lifting me up!
Supplies:
Me & My Big Ideas fall mat pad
Teresa Collins BINGO card, flower & brad
Tim Holtz birdcage & ink dyes
My Little Yellow Bicycle chipboard tree
Adornaments fiber
Paper Studio brads
EK Success & Archivers butterflies
Petaloo flowers
They are all a part of the woman I am today.  There are so many fond memories and each have a special place in my heart. My crafty skills & compassion comes from my maternal side and my affectionate heart & energy comes from my paternal side.  I praise God that they were reared in the church and the church lives in them.  A family that prays together stays together.

Bridal Shower mini

This is the weekend of my God Sister Terri's wedding.  We’re so excited and happy for her.  Just think a sweet little baby girl came in the world not expecting to live. God is able!  I purchased a lot of $1 chipboard mini albums in several shapes from Michaels over the last two years.  Instead of using the same chipboard shapes I mixed them up and painted the edges with purple acrylic paint. Her wedding colors are eggplant and sage.

She had the cutest Southern Belle bridal shower. We were given  little hats as favors to go on our heads.  They actually built her arrangement on her head during the shower….Is she not a cutie? I wish I was as organized as she is. : )  The bridal couple digi is from ……yes you guessed correctly Robert Jackson!  Did you notice the Anna Griffin paper in the background?  Wow it’s got to be about 10 years old. Her page is a mini album with photos of those in attendance.

She was given words of advice from everyone.  I couldn’t remember everyone’s advice so I gave her a few from my heart.  Her husband to be is such a nice young man. I pray God’s protection on them, that they may have a lifetime of happiness, their hearts will forever beat as one and their marriage may be fruitful.

The tag on the left is from a swap. It’s attached to a flip mini with photos of Mama Minnie, the bird cage she embellished to put the envelopes in, and a display of her favors. She and her fiancée are in the background video above.  The embellished vellum envelope on the right has a picture of the tea pot Mama Minnie gave her as a baby girl.  It was one of the centerpieces for the tables.  Wow it touched our hearts.

In the 3x3 mini on the right, I want her to write the reasons she loves her fiancée.   What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder. Matthew 19:6

The end….

Thanks for reading through my long post to share in one of my happy & proud moments!

Word Art Wednesday #43

Word Art Wednesday scripture this week comes from III John 1:2.  I just don't know what I would do without the power of pray.  Prayer changes things. All you have to do is trust GOD.  He can move mountains, He can give you peace, He can make your enemies behave, He can heal, He can and IS able to do all things.

Supplies:
Robert Jackson Digital image
Word Art Wednesday sentiment
EK Success Nostalgiques paper donuts
Copic & Bic Mark-it markers

No one says it better like Bishop Paul Morton in his song Be Blessed.  He said death and life is in the power of the tongue.

Let me encourage you, let me speak life to you
You can depend on God to see you through
You can depend on me to pray for you
I pray for you, you pray for me and watch God change things.

Be blessed.

Encouragement

The first card is for a friend that's been having some challenges. It reminds me of Gabby Douglas who has been through a lot of challenges with negative talk of her hair and being called a slave by her former teammates, BUT if you have Faith through your journey......GOD will show you a new revelation of his LOVE.  He will make your enemies behave and move the obstables out of your way!
Supplies:
Basic Grey lime rickey paper
Paper Studio textured cardstock
BIC Mark-it & Copic markers
Recollection bling
EK Success butterfly

This card is made for a sweet teen who is truly Sassy and Fun.  I played on the words in the ribbon and made it a sentiment.  We need to make sure children are shown love and speak encouraging words to them to keep their self esteem high.
Supplies:
Heidi Swapp winter fury paper
K&Company Brenda Walton mat pad
Robert Jackson digital image
ki memories ribbon
Recollection bling
Bic Mark-it & Copic markers
